Foundations

Building a strong foundation for learning and life skills.

Foundations is a “home away from home” to sixteen residential students. Within our residential programs, learning continues beyond the classroom and new skills are practiced and mastered.

Our Foundations students reside at our main school building located at 200 Ivy Street. Students have their own private rooms within our dorm-style residence. Our skilled residential staff support students during all residential hours, including overnight.

Residential life is structured to provide the right mix of relaxation and skill-building. Students participate in after-school groups that center leisure skills and social connection. Groups include yoga, arts and crafts, running, and gaming. Students have daily opportunities to go off-campus. We visit the library, the YMCA, and local activities and events. Many students access the community independently, whether to go on a walk or to run an errand at Target.

The Foundations schedule also includes structured times for skill development. Together with staff, students complete hygiene activities, keep their spaces clean, and complete chores for extra spending money. Our skilled staff are there to help, while also working to fade support as students work towards greater independence.
